2 bikers killed in Bagerhat crashes

Two motorcyclists were killed and two others injured in two separate road accidents in Fakirhat and Mollahat  upazilas of Bagerhat district on Sunday night. The dead are Khalid Hasan Biswas, alias Babu, 23, son of Mostafa Biswas, a resident of Garfa village in Mollahat upazila, and Shimul Mallaik, 26, son of Atiar Rahman, a resident of Baliadanga village in Fakirhat upazila. Police said an accident took place in Kahalpur area of Mollahat upazila on the Khulna-Mawa Highway at about 9:30pm when a truck collided head-on with the bike carrying Khalid, Riazul Sheikh and Sweet Sheikh, coming from the opposite direction, leaving Khalid dead on the spot and two others injured. The injured were rushed to Mollahat Upazila Health Complex. On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for autopsy. Police also seized the truck but its driver and helper managed to escape. A case was filed in this connection on Monday morning. In another accident, Shimul died as a cement-laden truck collided head-on with the motorcycle he was riding in Khajura Bus Stand area in Fakirhat upazila around 9:00pm. Amirul Islam, sergeant of Katakhali highway police camp, confirmed the accident, according to UNB.
