2 cases filed over detained Myanmar trawler

Bangladesh Navy on Wednesday filed 2 cases with Chittagong’s Patenga Police Station over the seizure of a Myanmar-flagged trawler, which was illegally trafficking 625 people to Malaysia on Monday. Lt Commander Mahbubur Rahman filed the cases against 96 people, said Patenga police OC Shahabuddin Ahmed. He said 1 case was filed over trespassing in Bangladesh and the other for human-trafficking. Eight-two Myanmar nationals, who were on board the engine-driven boat, have been accused for trespassing while the 16 traffickers found on the large boat have been named in the 2nd case, according to a news agency.
