2 children die in Rajshahi accident

Two children died as a microbus ran over them in Rajshahi’s Puthia on Wednesday. Locals blocked the Rajshahi-Natore highway to protest the death brining traffic on the highway to a halt for some time. The deceased have been identified as Bithi Akhtar Trisha, 7, and Tanzila Akter Barsha, 7. Both of them were grade I students of Gaopara Government Primary School. The microbus ran over the two when they were crossing road on their way to school around 10am. They died on the spot, highway police outpost SI Abdul Awal said. Angry locals put up a barricade on the highway after the accident. They lifted the blockade after Puthia Upazila Nirbahi Officer Khandaker Farhad Ahmed and Puthia Police Station OC Abu Obaida Khan assured them to construct a speed breaker on the spot and arrest the driver, according to bdnews24.com.
