2 commit suicide in Jhenidah

JHENIDAH, Apr 20 (UNB): Two people, including an old woman, allegedly committed suicide in separate incidents in Sadar and Kaliganj Upazilas Monday. Police and family sources said Shyamoly (70), wife of Nagendranath Mondol of village Bamonail in Sadar Upazila allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her house over a family feud at night. In Kaliganj, Bashir Ahmed of Mithapukur village allegedly took his life by hanging himself from the ceiling of his house. Police and family sources said demanding dowry money, Bashir used to torture his wife Sabina since long. On March 28, he picked up a quarrel with her over the issue and at one stage tortured her mercilessly. Later, Sabina filed a case against her husband with the police. Family sources said being afraid of arrest Bashir killed himself at about noon.
