2 cops caught while taking bribe

Local people caught an assistant sub-inspector and a constable of Pirganj Police Station while allegedly taking bribe from a motorcyclist at Gogor in Ranishankoil upazila of Thakurgaon district on Thursday, The policemen were identified as Nur Alam, assistant sub-inspector of Pirganj Police Station and constable Mamun. The accused policemen aided by some local goons were taking bribe allegedly from the unregistered motorcyclists in the area on Thursday. Sensing the matter, local people caught the two policemen. Later, both policemen were released after assurance of taking action against them came from Pirganj and Ranishankoil police stations. Sukumar Mohont, officer-in-charge of Ranishankoil Police Station, said the matter will be informed to the high officials concerned of police. Farhat Ahmed, superintendent of police, said action will be taken against the two policemen if they are found guilty, according to a news agency.
