2 cops injured in clash with Shibir men

Two policemen were injured in a clash with the local leaders and activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir in Dorgah Gate in Sylhet city on Tuesday afternoon. Police also arrested two Shibir activists during the clash. Witnesses said some Shibir men brought out a procession in front of Life Care Clinic in Dorgah Gate area around 4pm. Following this, police chased them and fired a round of bullet to disperse the Shibir procession. In retaliation, Shibir activists started showering brickbats towards the law enforcers, leaving two of them injured. An additional platoon of police was called in. The law enforcers chased the Shibir men out of the area. They arrested two youths suspected of being Shibir men. The injured policemen were whisked off to a hospital. Assistant Commissioner (AC) of Kotwali Model Police Station Sazzad Hossain confirmed the incident, according to a news agency.
