2 die as dredger sinks in Shitalakkhya

GAZIPUR, Dec 18: Two workers died as a dredger sank in the Shitlakkhya River being hit by another dredger at Saoraid in Kaliganj upazila Thursday. The deceased were identified as Sawkat Ali and Noab Ali, hailed from Chilmari upazila of Kurigram district. Local said the dredger which was engaged in extracting sand from the Shitalakkhya River sank in the river after it was hit by another dredger early Thursday. Two workers- Sawkat and Noab Ali- remained missing following the accident. On information, fire service divers went to the spot and recovered the bodies of the two workers from the cabin of the sunken dredger.    — UNB
