2 die in Chandpur road crash

At least two people were killed and six others injured in a road accident at Satbaria in Hajiganj upazila in Chandpur on Thursday afternoon. The deceased were identified as Sumon, 35, son of Nowab Ali of Tarpurchandi village, and Biplob Pal, son of Prakash Pal of Palpara of Chandpur Sadar upazila. Shah Alam, officer-in-charge of Hajiganj Police Station, said the accident took place around 12:30 pm when a Chandpur-bound bus and Hajiganj-bound CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on, leaving two passengers of the auto-rickshaw dead on the spot and three other auto-rickshaw inmates and three pedestrians injured. One of the injured auto-rickshaw passengers was admitted to Chandpur General Hospital in critical condition while the rest two to the upazila health complex. The pedestrians received minor injuries, according to UNB.
