2 die in city crashes

At least two people, including a woman, were killed in separate road accidents at Mirpur and Abdullahpur in Dhaka city in the last 24 hours ending at 9pm on Thursday. The deceased were identified as Khadija Begum, 55, a resident of Abdullahpur and Shah Alam Noor, 28, son of Bazlu Mia, a resident of Mirpur. Police and hospital sources said a bus ran over Shah Alam at Mirpur-14 around 8:10pm on Thursday when he was crossing a road, leaving him seriously injured. Locals rescued Shah Alam and rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the duty doctor declared him dead at 9:00pm. In separate accident, a bus hit Khadija at Abdullahpur Bus Stand under Uttara (West) Police Station in the evening. Locals rescued and rushed her to Tongi Hospital where the doctor declared her dead, according to a news agency.
