2 die in city road crashes

Two people, including a rickshaw van-puller were killed in separate road accidents in the city’s Darus Salam and Mohakhali. In the first incident, an unidentified man was killed and three cops were injured as a private car hit a police van parked near the Mohakhali Flyover in Shahinbag area around 1am, police said. The injured police personnel are undergoing treatment at Rajarbag Police Lines Hospital. In another incident, an unidentified vehicle ran over a rickshaw van-puller Zahirul Islam, 40, near Gabtali bus stand under Darus Salam Police Station around 6.30am while he was going to his workplace at Gabtali. On-duty physicians of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) pronounced Zahirul dead soon after he was rushed there. He was a resident of Biaddertak, Majar Road in Darus Salam in the city. He hailed from Nitalpur under Nagarpur Upazila of Tangail district, according to BSS.
