2 girls rescued from traffickers\\\' clutches

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel rescued two young girls foiling a bid to traffic them to India through Phulbari border in Kurigram district on Friday. The victims were identified as Lovely Khatun, 18, daughter of Badshah Mia and Shantona Khatun, 21, daughter of Shahjahan Mia of Chwak Gobindaganj Pathanpara village in Gaibandha district. Sensing the presence of two traffickers, a patrol team of BGB-45 detained them and rescued the two young girls while they were being trafficked to India through the Main Pillar No 935/5 at Gazer Kuti village in Phulbari Upazila around 12:30 am, said Shimulbari Company Commander Subedar Makbul Hossain of Kurigram BGB-45 Battalion. The arrested were identified as Zamuna Begum, 25, wife of Tajul Islam of Gohati village in Chwak Gobindaganj of Gaibandha, and Abdur Rashid Mia, 35, son of Abdar Ali of Kuti village in Phulbari, according to UNB.
