2 hacked to death in Moulvibazar, Magura

In separate incidents, two people were hacked to death in Moulvibazar and Magura districts on Friday. In Moulvibazar, a security guard of a local bazaar was chopped to death by miscreants at Sindurkhan Bazar in Srimangal upazila early Friday. The deceased was identified as Abdus Shahid, 45, son of late Hajir Ullah of Ghoraichar village in the upazila. Police arrested two people - Jubayer Ahmed and Salam Ullah of Tikria Chowmohon area - suspecting their involvement in the killing. A case was filed in this connection. In Magura, a man was chopped to death allegedly by his rivals at Malanchi village in Sadar upazila at noon. The deceased was identified as Omar Ali, 45, a resident of the village. Locals said there had been a longstanding dispute between BNP supporter Tojam Ali and Awami League supporter Obaidur Rahman of the area over establishing their dominance in the area. On Friday noon, rivals attacked Omar Ali, a supporter of Tojam Ali, while he was walking through a field around 1pm and chopped him indiscriminately with sharp weapons, leaving him dead on the spot, according to UNB.
