2 held over Jubo League leader killing

Police arrested two people for their suspected link to Jubo League leader Rafiqul Islam murder from Baroipara area in Kaliakoir upazila of Gazipur on Friday night. The arrestees were identified as Sohel of Chandra area and Mohammad Hossain of Baroipara area of the upazila. Omar Faruk, officer-in-charge of Kaliakoir Police Station, said police conducted a drive in the area and arrested Sohel and Mohammad Hossain suspecting their involvement in the killing on Friday night. However, police also recovered a private car from their possession. Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, former president of Kaliakoir upazila unit of Jubo League, the youth wing of ruling Awami League, was killed in a factional clash of Awami League during a programme marking the National Mourning Day and August 21 grenade attack anniversary at Chandra in Kaliakoir upazila on Friday. The motive behind the killing could not be known yet, according to a news agency.
