2 held with 10kg gold in city

In separate incidents, two people have been arrested along with 10.145kg gold in the city, reports UNB.
Plain-clothes police arrested two alleged gold smugglers and recovered 80 gold bars weighing about 9.300kg from their possession raiding Purana Paltan area on Monday night.
The arrested were identified as Kamrul, 40, and Shamsuddin, 51. Of them, the latter is the owner of a money exchange firm in the Purana Paltan area.
Contacted, Deputy Commissioner (Public Relations) of Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Masudur Rahman said acting on a tip-off, a special team of DB arrested Shamsuddin from Purana Paltan and later Kamrul from Paltan thana area.
The present market value of the recovered gold would be around Tk 46 million, DC Masud added.
