2 held with 1.2kg gold at Shahjalal

Customs intelligence officials at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport in Kurmitola in the city seized 1.2 kilograms of gold and arrested two people in this connection on Thursday. The arrestees were identified as Abdul Motin, 43, and Mohammad Abdul Aziz, 44, hail from different villages of Comilla district. Sources at the the country’s main airport said the twp men landed at the airport from a flight (BG0087) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Kualalampur, Malaysia, around 5:27am. When they were going to the customs lounge, the customs intelligence men, following secret information, challenged them. Later, the officials carried out a search and recovered the gold weighing 1.2 kg from their possession – 898.2 gram from Matin and 303 grams from Aziz. The market value of the seized gold was estimated at Tk 6.5 million, according to UNB.
