2 hermaphrodites killed in road crash

Two hermaphrodite people (hijras) were killed and three others injured when a bus hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the Begumganj-Feni road at Dokanghar in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali district on Friday. The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately. Police said a Chowmuhani-bound bus of ‘Sugandha Paribahan’ from Feni hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw while overtaking around 9am, leaving a passenger of the auto-rickshaw killed on the spot and four others in the vehicle injured. Later the injured were rushed to Begumganj Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared one of them dead. All the deceased and victims were hijras, said police, according to a news agency.
