2 Hizb-ut-Tahrir men held in city

Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested two operatives of outlawed Islamist outfit Hizb-ut-Tahrir (HuTi) from Dakhhin Khan in Dhaka city on Sunday evening. "We arrested Altamas Ahmed Babu and Syed Jane Alam Rubel from in front of Shahi Mosque under Dakhhin Khan Police Station around 5.15pm on Sunday for their link to the Hizb-ut-Tahrir," a DB official said. The detectives also said the arrestees confessed their link to the Hizb-ut Tahrir during the preliminary interrogation. The arrestees also admitted that they distributed leaflets among the students, teachers, service holders, labourers and commoners aimed at misguiding them about the state and the government to establish Khilafat state after toppling the government, he said. The DB police also seized a large number of 'jihadi' books from them. A case was filed.
