ATHENS, June 15 (AFP): Two people were hospitalised Wednesday after a fire broke out in an Athens migrant camp, officials said.
The fire at the Eleonas camp near the centre of Athens-where over 1,100 people live, including many families with young children-broke out early Wednesday and was mostly under control by midday.
A migration ministry source said nobody else was hurt in the fire. No information was immediately available on the causes.
The two people were hospitalised with breathing trouble, the source said.
State TV ERT said one of them is a child of 12.
The fire department said the blaze had broken out inside the camp and had then spread to nearby warehouses.
It burned down a handful of housing containers in the camp but was subsequently brought under control, the migration ministry said.
