2 hurt in polls violence die in city hospitals

Two people, including a housewife, hurt in polls violence in Khulna and Munshiganj districts, died in separate hospitals in Dhaka city on Thursday night and early Friday. Selim Patwari, vice-president of Rupsha upazila (UZ) unit Krishak League who sustained bullet injuries during polls violence in Rupsha in Khulna, died in a Dhaka hospital early Friday. Police said 11 people, including Selim, were injured in violence at Rupsha Samantasena Siddiqia polling centre during UZ elections on Saturday. Selim was first admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital and later shifted to National Institute of Diseases of the Chest and Hospital (NIDCH) in Dhaka where he succumbed to his injuries around 3:00am on Friday. Earlier, Lucky Begum, 32, a housewife of Munshiganj injured in separate polls-related violence, succumbed to her injuries at Apollo Hospitals at Basundhara in the city around 9:00pm on Thursday. Lucky, wife of Abdul Mannan, a chairman candidate in Gazaria upazila, was injured by bullet in a clash near Baushia Government Primary School during the UZ polls, according to a news agency.
