Sunday, 6 April 2014

A fire erupted at a laundry in a building in Uttara in the city on Sunday morning. Two workers of the laundry were injured in the fire. Firefighters and local people said Tanjin Aziz, 20, and Raj, alias Abdul Khalek, 18, two workers of ‘Re-laundry’, a shop in Uttara Sector-9, sustained burns in the fire that ravaged the laundry, gutting furniture and clothes. They said the fire broke out around 3am catching the two workers in sleep. Locals heard them screaming and rushed to their rescue, said shop owner Md Imran Hossain. The two injured workers were whisked to Dhaka Medical College & Hospital with 12 to 15 per cent burns. Both are related to Hossain. Hossain said a doctor told him they were out of danger. He said a shot-circuit could have caused the fire, according to a news agency.
