2 jailed for selling expired medicine in Moulvibazar

A mobile court in Moulvibazar on Tuesday sentenced a person to one and a half years’ imprisonment and another to 6 moths’ jail for selling expired medicine in the district town. The convicts were identified as Saiful Islam, 50, of Ibrahimpur village in Sreemangal Upazila, and Shahed Mia, 48, of Mansurnagar area in Rajnagar Upazila. Executive magistrate M Faruqe Ahmad said a team of mobile court led by him launched a drive in the court area of the town at noon and arrested Saiful and Shahed while they were selling expired medicine in the area openly. They were produced before his court when he handed down the verdict sentencing Saiful Islam to one and a half years’ jail and Shahed to six months’ imprisonment, M Faruqe Ahmad said. The two convicts had been selling medicine in the court area illegally since long, M Faruqe Ahmad added, according to UNB.
