2 JL men knifed near RU campus

RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY, Feb 8: Two activists of Awami Jubo League, local unit were chopped by a group of miscreants on Friday night at Meherchandi area of Rajshahi University (RU).
The victims were identified as Ali Hasan (26), son of Hasmat Ali and Akash (20), son of Monirul Islam. Both are workers of Jubo League local unit.
Following the incident a panic spread around the campus and a tense situation is prevailing there.
Witnesses said that the incident took place yesterday at 10:30pm while the victims were gossiping at Meherchandi area. At stage 6-7 unidentified miscreants in motorbikes rushed to the spot and chopped them without exchanging any words. The miscreants left the place before anyone could recognise them.
Mizanur Rahman Rana, president of Chhatra League university unit told the newsmen that both Akash and Hasan are active workers of JL. He claimed the cadres of Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) assaulted them.
Shamsun Noor, officer in charge of Motihar police station confirmed the incident.
