2 kids drown in Munshiganj, Magura

Two children drowned in separate incidents in Munshiganj and Magura districts on Monday. In Munshiganj, a boy drowned in a pond at Baroipara village at Sirajdikhan Upaizla in the afternoon. The deceased was identified as Ratul Sheikh, 6, son of Mozammel Sheikh of Khilgaon Dakkhinpara village in the upazila. Family sources said Ratul along with his family came on a visit to his grandfather’s house. On the fateful day, Ratul drowned as he slipped into a pond unnoticed. Earlier, giving Ratul a bath, his father put the boy on the bank of the pond. In Magura, Srabani Khatun, 4, drowned in a pond at Telipukur village at Mohammadpur Upazila. Police quoting family sources said Srabani, daughter of Ujjal Mia of the village, slipped into the water body while playing beside it in the afternoon. Villagers recued the minor girl and rushed her to a local hospital where the doctors declared her dead, according to UNB.
