2 killed, 25 injured inKhulna road accident

Our Correspondent KHULNA, Oct 8: Two persons were killed and 25 other were injured in a road accident on Khulna- Pirojpur highway near Shat Gambij Mosque at Bagerhat on Friday. The deceased were identified as Johra Khatun (60), of village Balua under Nazirpur Upazila and Saiful Islam (20) a university admission seeker of village Kalia under Zianagor Upazila of Pirojpur.. Police and eyewitnesses said that the accident occurred when a Pirojpur bound bus left from Khulna fell into the roadside ditch near Shat Gambuj Mosque while the driver lost control of it. Two persons died on the spot and other 25 were injured. The injured were admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital and Bagerhat Sadar Hospital. 8 bandits arrested Joint forces arrested 8 members of Julfiker Bahini and recovered 25 traps for hunting deer, 5 sharp weapons (Chapati) and two boats from Khajura Khal of Dublarchar area of Sundarbans on Friday. The arrested are Rafiq, 29, Firoj Sheikh, 35, Mostofa Sheikh, 28, Afzal Sheikh, 32, Enamul Howlader, 19, Jalal Howlader, 26, Zakir Howlader, 25 and Endadul Haq, 28. Coast guard source said that the miscreants tried to escape after sensing the presence of joint forces but arrested by the coast guards. 12 held along border BGB and police arrested 12 Bangladeshi nationals including three children from Baikary border area of Satkhira while they were trying to go to India without passport early Thursday. The deceased were identified as Ohidul Sheik (35), son of Tuku Mia of Natun Bazar area and Raj of Boyra area of the city. Police and local said that the body of Ohidul was recovered near his house. Police suspected that the killing may have happened for previous enmity. In another incident three sons of Mintu of Boyra area beaten a youth named Raj while he was taking drug on Thursday night. He died on that night. His body was recovered from hanging condition near his house. Police recovered a deadbody from Barashat beel on early Friday. The deceased was identified as Saiful Sheikh (24), son of Eklas Sheikh of village Barashat under Terokhada Upazila of the district. 2 children drown Two children drowned in a water body in Khulna on Friday. The deceased were identified as Tahsin (1), son of Hamidul Islam of village Arashnagor under Dumuria Upazila and Arpon Mohli (8), son of Nishat Ranjon of village Shiali under Rupsha Upazila of the district.
