2 killed, 30 injured in Savar crash

At least two people were killed and thirty others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a bus in front of Jahangirnagar University at Savar upazila in the outskirts of the city on Thursday night. Of the deceased, one was identified as Afzal Khan, the truck driver. Identity of the other deceased could not be known. The accident took place at JU’s Joy Bangla Gate at late night. Police and witnesses said a Kushtia-bound bus from Dhaka collided with a truck coming from opposite direction and the two vehicles fell into a trench, instantly killing Afzal, the driver of the truck, injuring thirty other people, mostly bus passengers. The injured were rushed to Anam Medical College & Hospital at Savar where one of them died. Conditions of many injured persons were stated to be critical, according to a news agency.
