2 killed in Bagerhat road crash

Two fish traders were killed and another was injured as a pickup van hit a truck on the Mongla-Khulna highway in Amtola area of Fakirhat upazila of Bagerhat district on early Sunday. The deceased were identified as Arif Mollah, 20, son of Kabir Hossain, a resident of Kusli village, and Robiul Islam Fakir, 25, son of Tuku Fakir, a resident of Gimadanga village in Tungipara upazila of Gopalganj district. They were fish traders. Abdul Mannan Forazi, officer-in-charge of of Katakhali highway police said the Khulna-bound pickup van hit the paddy-laden damaged stationary truck from behind on the highway in the early morning, leaving Arif dead on the spot and two others injured. Later the injured were rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital where Robiul succumbed to his injuries, according to a news agency.
