2 killed in C\\\'nawabganj, Laxmipur

At least two people were killed in separate attacks by their rivals over land-related disputes in Chapainawabganj and Laxmipur districts on Wednesday. In Chapainawabganj, a man was chopped to death allegedly by his uncle at Kornakhali Mirjapur under Shibganj upazila in the morning. The dead is Abdul Karim, 30, son of Mozammel Haque of Kornakhali Mirjapur village. Sub-inspector Sudipta Reza of Shibganj Police Station said a clash ensued as Karim had an altercation with his uncle Monirul Islam over the ownership of a piece of land at Beelbhatia field at the village around 9:00am. At one stage, Monirul chopped Karim with hasua (home made sharp weapon) indiscriminately, leaving him dead on the spot. In Laxmipur, a man named Abul Khayer Patoary, son of late Basir Ullah, was killed in an attack allegedly by his rivals over land at Basghar under Ramganj upazila in the morning. Police and locals said the incident took place when Abul Khayer and his supporters tried to prevent his rivals from constructing a building on the disputed land. On information, police recovered the body and arrested three people from the scene, according to UNB.
