2 killed in Kushtia shootout

KUSHTIA, Oct 23 (UNB): Two alleged auto-rickshaw lifters were killed in a shootout between their cohorts and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Bhadalia in Sadar upazila in Kushtia on Kushtia-Jhenidah highway early Sunday.
The deceased could not be identified immediately.
RAB sources said acting on secret information, when they tried to halt a hijacked CNG-run auto-rickshaw its driver lost control over the steering and it overturned on the road.
At that time some 45 youths came out from the auto-rickshaw and opened fire on the RAB personnel, forcing them to fire back that triggered a gun battle at about 2 am.
After about 20 minutes of gunfight when the auto-rickshaw lifters fled away two bodies were recovered from the spot.
