2 killed in severe gunfight between PCJSS, UPDF

RANGAMATI, Nov 14: Two persons were killed and another one was wounded critically in a gunfight between the armed cadres of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS) and anti-peace treaty United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) in remote Lulongchhari area under Jurachhari upazila last night, said security sources.
The sources could not give confirmation about the dead bodies and the injured person as the cadres of both the feuding groups concealed the dead bodies.
After receiving the information, security personnel from Jhokka Bazar and Shilchhari army camps went to the place of occurrence in the night and recovered huge quantities of live ammunition, the sources add.
The sources said at about 9 pm Friday, two armed gangs of PCJSS and UPDF confronted themselves in the jungle of Lulongchhari area, and a severe gunfight ensued between them over controlling the area, leaving two dead on the spot and one injured critically.
The security forces were conducting massive hunt to nab the armed activists of both the groups.
However, they could not ascertain the names of the dead men and the wounded person and their party identities until filing of the report.
