2 killed in \\\'shootout\\\'

Two suspected robbers were killed in a ‘shootout’ between the bandits and Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) personnel in Pashur Channel area in Sundarbans in Bagerhat on Tuesday afternoon. Rab sources said the encounter took place near the Bhadra forest station of the Chandpai range in the Sundarbans East Zone around 3:30pm. The dead were identified as Dulu, 42, chief of the notorious ‘Dulu Bahini’, and his henchman Bacchu, 37. Dulu was from Sonatonia village of Rampal Upazila in Bagerhat. Lt Commander Mohammad Guljar of Rab-8 said a five pipe guns, two rifles, one shotgun and some 500 rounds of bullets were recovered from the spot. Earlier, Rab-8 personnel had arrested six members of Dulu Bahini and seized some 300 rounds of bullets from them at the Pashur River jetty in Mongla Port area early Tuesday, according to a news agency.
