2 killed in wall collapse

Two people were killed when a wall collapsed on them at Purbo Gubrakura in Haluaghat upazila of Mymensingh district on Wednesday. The victims were Monindra Mankin, 90, and his wife Romila Ritchil, 80, resident of Kalakuma village under Nalitabari upazila in Sherpur district. The couple came to visit their daughter's house in the area on September 17. Sub-inspector of Haluaghat Police Station Khokon Chandra Sarker said the old earthen wall of the house fell on the couple at about 3.30am while they were sleeping. Both of them died on the spot. The incident of wall collapse took place due to heavy rainfall in the area for last several days, the SI said, according to a news agency.
