At least two people were killed in separate incidents in Chuadanga district on Monday night and Tuesday. A farmer was beaten to death allegedly by his nephews (sons of sister) over a land-related dispute at Hardi village in Alamdanga upazila on Monday night. The deceased was identified as Shafi Uddin, 38, son of Harez Uddin of the village. Police quoting locals said, some nephews of Shafi Uddin went to his house at about 9:30pm to take inherited land into their possession. At one stage, the nephews of Shafi beat him indiscriminately, leaving him injured. Shafi died on way to a local hospital. In separate incident, police recovered the bruised body of a lathe machine operator from Gobindahuda village in Damurhuda upazila on Tuesday morning. The deceased was identified as Abdus Samad, 35, a resident of Durgapur village. Police said locals found Samad’s body behind the Eidgah at Gobindahuda village around 9:00am and informed police who recovered the body, bearing multiple injury marks, and sent it to a local hospital for autopsy. Police and locals suspected that miscreants killed him over past enmity and dumped the body there, according to UNB.
