2 launches fined at Mawa

A mobile court in Munshiganj has fined two launches (passenger ferries) for lack of fitness certificates at Mawa Launch Ghat at Lauhajang Upazila in the district. The launches – MV Saiful and MV Royal Express 2 – have been fined Tk 5,000 each by executive magistrate Abul Kalam during a drive in Padma River. ‘The drive will continue regularly against the unfit launches plying in the river,’ Kalam said adding, ‘without fitness certificate launches will not be allowed to ply.’ The magistrate further warned the launch owners not to ply any launch without legal documents of fitness, according to a news agency.
