2 men to walk to gallows for dowry

KUSHTIA, Apr 28 (UNB) : A tribunal here Wednesday in separate verdicts convicted two men and awarded them capital punishment in absentia for killing their wives for dowry.
The condemned convicts are Alam Malitha (30), resident of Joyrampur village in Daulatpur upazila and Sakim (32), resident of Barkhada village in Sadar Upazila.
Tribunal sources said Alam Malitha strangulated his wife Hajera to death after failing to realise dowry on September 14, 2008.
In another incident, Sakim strangulated his wife Banu to death on August 23, 2000 as she failed to comply with his dowry demand.
Judge of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal handed down the separate verdicts .
