2 minors drown in pond

Two siblings drowned in a pond in Sonaimuri upazila in Noakhali district on Saturday afternoon. The deceased were identified as Nushu Akhter, 8, and her younger brother Imran, 5, daughter and son of Najrul Islam, resident of Bogadia village in the upazila.
Hospital sources and locals said the two minor brother and sister were taking bath in a pond near their residence. At one stage they slipped deep into the pond and drowned. Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Begumganj Upazila Health Complex Asim Kumar confirmed the death of the siblings, according to a news agency.
