2 more accused taken on remand

NARSINGDI, Jan 9 (UNB): Two more accused in Narsingdi Municipality mayor Lokman Hossain murder case were taken on remand after their surrender before a district court Monday.
Abdul Matin Sarkar, accused number two, and Mia Mohammad Manju, accused number 12, surrendered before the court of Narsingdi Chief Judicial Magistrate Nitai Chandra Saha at about 10.00 am with separate bail petitions.
Mamunur Rashid Mondal, a Detective Branch (DB) inspector and also the investigation officer (IO) of the case, opposed the bail petitions and sought 10-day remand for each.
After hearing, the court rejected the bail petitions and granted three-day remand for Matin and one day for Manju.
Some unidentified gunmen killed the popular mayor on November 1 last year.
