2 \\\'muggers\\\' bullet-hit in gunfight with cops

Two suspected muggers received bullet injuries in a 'gunfight' with police at Satkhira Sadar upazila on Wednesday. They were identified as Rubel Hossain, 32, son of Giasuddin, a resident of Dargapara village of the upazila, and Rubel Sheikh, 27, son of Jagar Ali Sheikh, a resident of Rasulpur area of the district. Two police constables – Alim and Emdad – were also injured in the incident. Being tipped off that a gang of muggers were taking preparation to commit mugging at Dattadanga Intersection at Sadar Upazila, a team of police conducted a drive there around 5:00am, said Liton, sub-inspector of Sadar Police Station. Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the gangsters started firing shots at police who also retaliated with firing, triggering a gunfight, leaving the two suspected muggers bullet-hit and the two constables injured. Police arrested the injured muggers while their associates managed to flee the scene. The muggers were admitted to Sadar Hospital under police custody. Rubel Hossain was wanted by police in several cases, including robbery, mugging and arson attack and violence, according to a news agency.
