2 orgs, 10 eminent personalities get Nawab Ali Chowdhury Award

Two reputed organisations and 10 eminent personalities have been given the ‘Nawab Bahadur Nawab Ali Chowdhury National Award-14’ for their outstanding contributions in different fields. Dhaka University (DU) Vice Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, Editor of the Financial Express Moazzem Hossain, State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, professor of Jawaherlal University of New Delhi Amita Singh and Late AKM Sarwarjan Biswas are among the renowned individuals getting the prestigious award. DU VC Arefin Siddique got the award for his contributions to education, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal for sports, Editor of the Financial Express Moazzem Hossain for journalism, State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak for information and communications technology, India’s Jawaherlal Nehru University Professor Amita Singh for women empowerment and Late Sarwarjan Biswas (posthumously) for 1971 Liberation War. This year, two organisations got the award for their contribution in different sectors. Rahimafrooz received the award in environment and Hamdard Laboratories for is contributions in poverty alleviation. The awards were handed to them at a programme at DU’s Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban. Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury was one of key founders of Dhaka University.
