2 persons mugged at Mirpur

Armed muggers injured two persons before decamping with their valuables and cash from them at Shewrapara of Mirpur in the city Monday afternoon, police said.
Witnesses said a gang of muggers intercepted Shafiqul Islam, 38, manager of Insaf Super Market located at Keraniganj in the capital, and Mohammad Hashemi, 25, at Shewrapara and demanded their belongings to be handed over.
On refusal, a gang member shot Shafiqul in the abdomen and stabbed Hashemi indiscriminately leaving them both seriously injured.
The muggers later fled the scene rapidly after snatching away Tk 75,000 and three mobile phone sets from them.
