2 pirates held with firearms near Sundarbans

Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard arrested two pirates along with firearms in Pashchim Dhangmari under Dakope upazila in Khulna district near Sundarban on Wednesday. The arrestees were identified as Mamun, 28, son of Mahbub Ali, and Abdul Mannan, 30, son of Mujibur Rahman of Foyla village of Rampal upazila of Bagerhat district. Operational officer of Coast Guard (Mongla-west zone) Lt Mozahidur Rahman said a Coast Guard team conducted a drive in Pashchim Dhangmari area as their regular drive to arrest pirates and forests robbers. During the drive, the Coast Guard arrested two pirates, also members of notorious Ranga Bahini, from there after a hot chase. He said the arrestees had been looting valuables from the possession of the fishermen and Bawali (honey collectors) in the Sundarbans since long, according to UNB.
