2 remanded in Sagar-Runi killing case

A Dhaka court on Tuesday placed two security guards of the residence of slain journalist couple Sagar-Runi on a two-day remand in a case filed in connection with the gruesome murder. Those who were remanded are Palash Rudra Pal and Enam Ahmed, alias Humayun Kabir. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Tarek Mainul Islam Bhuiya passed the order when they were produced before the court. On October 21, Mohammad Wares Ali Mia, assistant superintendent of police of RAB-1 and also the investigation officer of the case, produced them before the court, seeking a 7-day remand for them. On February 11, 2012, Maasranga Television’s News Editor Golam Mostafa Sagar, also known as Sagar Sarowar and his wife, ATN Bangla senior reporter Meherun Runi, were hacked to death by some miscreants in their rented apartment in the city’s Razabazar area, according to UNB.
