2 siblings get life, 3 others 2-yr for murder

A court in Pabna has sentenced two siblings to life and three others to two years’ rigorous imprisonment for killing a man about 20 years ago. The lifers are Mansur Ali Kaiser and his brother Majibar Rahman, sons of Mostab Ali of Bharaimari village of Ishwardi upazila. Their three other brothers who got two years are Ijibar Rahman, Shahin and Ranju. Among the five convicts, the former two were fined Tk 20,000 each, in default, to serve one more year in jail while the three Tk 5,000 each. According to the prosecution, the convicts killed Shahinur Islam Dablu, son of Shahadat Ali of the village on September 7, 1994, over a land dispute. Victim’s brother Haider Ali filed a case against the five siblings on the day. After examining the records and witnesses, judge of the additional sessions judge’s court, Pabna, M Mashiar Rahman, handed down the punishment on Sunday afternoon, according to UNB.
