2 suspects held over blogger Niloy killing

Detectives arrested two suspected members of banned militant outfit 'Ansarullah Bangla Team’ in connection with the murder of blogger Niladri Chattopadhyay Niloy from the city’s Mirpur and Shyampur areas on Thursday. The arrestees were identified as Kawsar Hossain Khan, 29, and Kamal Hossain Sardar, 29. They are also charge-sheeted accused in an attempted murder case filed in connection with an attack on another blogger Asif Mohiuddin two years ago. A team of Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested Kawsar from Mirpur-10 area around 5pm while Kamal Hossain from Dholaipar area in Shyampur around 6:30pm, said DB deputy commissioner (East) Mahbubul Alam. On August 7, Niloy was hacked to death by unidentified assailants inside his fourth-floor flat at North Goran in the city. He was the fourth Bangladeshi blogger killed so far this year, according to a news agency.
