2 teachers, friend testify

Two teachers and a friend testified before a Dhaka court Thursday at the trial of the rape of a Viqarunnisa Noon School and College student by her teacher, reports UNB.
Jannatun Nesa and Wahid Parvin, two teachers of Bashundhara branch of the educational institution, and victim's friend Jerin Mahmud made their depositions before the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-4.
After the deposition, defence lawyers cross-examined the prosecution witnesses.
The accused teacher, Parimal Joydhar, was present in the dock during the hearing.
With this, a total of 12 prosecution witnesses have so far testified in the case.
Parimal sexually assaulted the girl confining her in a room of his house twice in May and June of 2011 and recorded the deplorable acts with his mobile phone.
On July 5, 2011, the victim's father lodged a rape case with Badda Thana against Parimal, Viqarunnisa principal Hosne Ara and its Bashundhara branch head Lutfur Rahman.
Detectives arrested Parimal from a relative's house in Keraniganj on July 7. Later, he made a confessional statement before a court on July 11.
