2 terrorists killed in lynch-mob attack in Satkhira

Two alleged terrorists were killed in a lynch-mob attack at Chingrakhali in Kaliganj upazila of Satkhira district on Monday. The deceased were identified as Ashraf Mir and his associate Ishaq. Quoting villagers, police said a group of terrorists, numbering 50-60, led by Ashraf Mir, a resident of Kajla Kashibati village of the upazila, launched an attack on the houses of some landless people in Chingrakhali village, aiming to evict them from the houses. The attackers also blasted 40 bombs in the area, leaving 10 people injured. At one stage, the landless people gheraoed the terrorists and caught three of them – identified as Ashraf Mir, Ishaq and Abu Bakar – while others managed to escape. Later, they handed over the trio to police after a good beating. Police also recovered a pipe-gun and three live bombs from the spot. They were rushed to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex under police custody where Ashraf Mir and Ishaq succumbed to their injures at about 10:00 am. Sub-inspector of Kaliganj Police Station Shahidullah confirmed the deaths, according to a news agency.
