2 women die in fire

A fire at a home in Panchharhi Upazila in Khagrachharhi district has killed two women. The fire broke out at the home of Mendela Tripura in Moratila area on Sunday night, Panchharhi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdus Samad said. The victims are Mendela’s wife Shanti Rani Tripura, 48, and Uori Tripura, 13, a visiting relative. Local Awami League unit President Mangal Kumar Chakma said those two were the only people in the house on that night. Other members of the family were attending an event in a neighbouring village. Fire fighting units could not reach there to put out the blaze because the home was in a remote area, he said, according to bdnews24.com.
