2 youths buy freedom in Bogra

Two youths of Bogra who were abducted from Hili area of Dinajpur district have bought their freedom paying ransom. They were identified as Hasan Ali, 30, son of Majibur Rahman, and Abdul Mannan, 32, son of Tesar Ali of Bhutbari village in Dhunat upazila of Bogra. Locals said a person acquainted with the youths called them out of their houses to Hili area talking about litchi business on Wednesday. Since Thursday morning, cell phones of the duo were found switched off. Later at noon, their families were asked over cell phone to pay Tk 200,000 as ransom for their release. The abductors also threatened to kill them unless their demand went unmet. Meanwhile, Dhunat police did not record any complaint despite being informed by the victim families. After negotiation, abductors freed both Hasan and Majibur on Friday morning on payment of Tk 20,000 as ransom, according to UNB.
