20 abducted fishermen yet to be rescued

BARGUNA, Aug 19 (UNB): Twenty fishermen abducted by pirates for ransom Friday from the Bay of Bengal here could not be rescued until Tuesday.
Sources said a gang of pirates of infamous 'Julfikar Bahini' stormed into 20 fishing trawlers and looted valuables, including fish, nets, machines, oil and food worth Tk 20 million when the fishermen were catching fish near Mohipur and Katka coastal areas of the Bay.
The bandits also kidnapped 20 fishermen demanding Tk 1.0 million ransom and took them into the deep forest of the Sunderbans.
