20 companies bag President's Award for Industrial Development

Plans and policies set out to ramp up industrialisation, says minister

Twenty industrial entities have been awarded the 'President's Award for Industrial Development 2021' in recognition of their outstanding contribution to economic development and job creation through industrialisation.
Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun handed over the awards comprising crests and certificates at a programme at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Thursday.
Zakia Sultana, senior secretary of the Ministry of Industries, presided over the 7th version of the award ceremony, while Dr Md Abdus Shahid, minister for agriculture, and Mahbubul Alam, president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), were special guests.
Ecotex Ltd, Pran Dairy Ltd and Mir Akhtar Hossain Ltd jointly stood first in the large industry category, Square Food and Beverage Ltd grabbed second position while Snowtex Outerwear Ltd and Square Toiletries Ltd became third jointly.
Bengal Poly & Paper Sack Ltd became first in the medium industry category, Basumati Distribution Limited won the second position while APS Apparels Ltd stood third.
In the small industry category, Reliable Builders and Concord Entertainment Co. Ltd jointly became first, Rangpur Foundry Ltd became second while Gunze United Ltd grabbed the third position.
In the micro industry category, Fariha Green Mood Leathers Ltd won the first place, ABM Water Company became second and Deeplaid Laboratories Ltd grabbed the third position.
Blue-Star Agro Products & Industries won the first prize in the cottage industry category, Preeti Beauty Parlour got the 2nd prize and Lehaj Salma Jubo Mahila Kalyan Sanstha won the third position.
On the other hand, Biz Solutions Ltd is the only company which was honoured in the hi-tech industry category.
The Ministry of Industries introduced the 'President's Industrial Development Award' in 2014. So far, this award has been given for seven times.
The industries minister said proper plans and policies have led to significant and visible development in the industrial sector.
They are recognising the businessmen and industrial entrepreneurs for their contribution through awards, he added.
The minister also said they have formulated a 10-year 'National Productivity Master Plan' , 'National Industrial Policy-2022' and 'SME Policy-2019' to speed up the process of industrialisation including setting up modern and up-to-date industrial units.
