20 held while illegally going to India

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Sunday arrested 20 people, including seven women and two children, from Putkhali border under Benapole union in Sharsha upazila in Jessore. BGB and police claimed that the arrestees were trying to go to India illegally. Mosharaf Hossain, officer-in-charge of Benapole Port Police Station, said acting on secret information, a team of BGB conducted a drive in Balurmath area and arrested them whey they were trying to cross the border without valid documents in the morning. The detainees hail from different parts of Faridpur, Narail and Bagerhat districts. Later, they were handed over to the Port Police Station. A case was filed in this connection, according to UNB.
